Best Practice Associate - Technical & File Review | Hybrid | Up to £55,000
Location: Wilmslow, Cheshire (Hybrid)
Our client, a highly respected independent Chartered Financial Planning firm, is looking to appoint an experienced Best Practice Associate to join its growing technical and governance team.
This is an exceptional opportunity for a Chartered Financial Planning professional who enjoys the technical side of financial planning and wants to play a pivotal role in maintaining the highest standards of advice, client outcomes, and regulatory excellence.
This is far more than a traditional compliance or file-checking role. You'll become a trusted technical expert, working collaboratively with Financial Planners, Paraplanners, Client Managers and senior leadership to continually improve advice quality and promote best practice across the business.
The Opportunity
You'll be responsible for reviewing complex financial planning cases, supporting advisers on technical matters, and ensuring every recommendation meets the highest regulatory and professional standards.
Working across multiple departments, you'll help shape processes, improve efficiencies, and ensure the business continues to deliver exceptional outcomes for clients.
Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting pre-approval and post-sale file reviews to ensure the suitability and quality of financial planning advice
- Reviewing client files for regulatory compliance, technical accuracy and Consumer Duty requirements
- Providing technical guidance and support to Financial Planners and Client Managers
- Working collaboratively to enhance advice quality and continuously improve best practice
- Reviewing and developing internal policies, procedures and governance documentation
- Supporting complaint investigations and regulatory queries where required
- Reviewing financial promotions, websites, client communications and marketing materials to ensure they remain clear, fair and compliant
- Producing management information, quality assurance reporting and key performance data
- Maintaining high standards of data integrity and governance across the business
- Contributing to strategic projects and continuous improvement initiatives
About You
The successful candidate will have:
- Chartered Financial Planner status (CII Level 6 Advanced Diploma) as a minimum
- Strong experience within Financial Planning, Technical Compliance, File Review or Paraplanning
- An in-depth understanding of FCA regulation, Consumer Duty and financial planning best practice
- Excellent technical knowledge across pensions, investments, tax planning and protection
- Outstanding attention to detail and analytical skills
- The confidence to challenge constructively while working collaboratively with advisers and senior stakeholders
- A passion for improving advice quality and delivering exceptional client outcomes
